SEVEN TITLES OF CHRIST AS RECORDED IN JOHN CHAPTER ONE 1. WORD - verse 1. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God."
2. LIGHT - verse 7. "The same came for a witness, to bear witness of
the Light, that all men through him might believe."
3. LAMB - verse 29. "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him,
and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
4. CHRIST - verse 41. "He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him,
We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ."
5. SON OF GOD - verse 49. "Nathanael answered and said unto him, Rabbi,
thou art the Son of God; thou art ...."
6. KING OF ISRAEL - verse 49. ".....Rabbi, thou art.....the King of Israel."
7. SON OF MAN - verse 51. "And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say
unto you, Henceforth ye shall see heaven open, and the angels ascending
and descending upon the Son of man."
Note: The opening statements of John's Gospel and that of his first
Epistle are somewhat similar.
John's Gospel presents Jesus Christ as being "in the beginning" - that
is, He was present BEFORE the creation.
I John 1:1 speaks of Jesus Christ as being "from the beginning", or
being present AT THE TIME of creation.
