Do You Have Pressing Problems?
Moses led his people into the desert, but what was he going to do with them? They had to be fed, and feeding 2 or 3 million people required a LOT of food.
According to the Quartermaster General of the Army, it is reported that Moses would have to had 1500 tons of food each day. To deliver that much food would require two freight trains, each a mile long.
We also remember that they were out in a desert, and the need for firewood for cooking food would amount to an estimated 4000 tons of wood daily, plus a few more freight trains for each day.
On top of that, remember that they were in transit 40 years.
Oh yes! there was the need for water. Just enough for drinking and washing dishes would require an estimated 11,000,000 gallons per day and tank cars stretching hundreds of mile for delivery.
Yep, there are more problems! Their crossing of the Red Sea was done at night. Should they have had a narrow passage, double file, it would have required a line some 800 miles long and perhaps 35 days and nights to cross. Therefore for 2 or 3 million people, they had to be, at least, 5000 abreast to get over in a single night.
All but a hand full of the adults died in the wilderness, so we would have approximately 200 burials a day. In addition, each time they set up camp it would require a campground two-thirds the size of R.I. - or some 750 square miles.
Are we to suppose that Moses understood, and figured this all out, before he left Egypt? Moses believed God! We can't be sure that the one suggesting all these problems believed God, or if he is manifesting his lack of confidence in the Word of God.
What do we know? We know that God ordered this exodus, that he knew the exact number of people involved, that no problem would go unsolved, and that those whom He sustained entered the promised land 40 years later.
We don't need to know HOW an all-wise; all-powerful God took care of their every problem. What we do NOT know is whether the figures given in this report are accurate.
WHAT ABOUT MY PROBLEM?
In light of all the above, I really don't have a problem worth mentioning. Do you?
Can we,with Paul, in midst of a sinking ship experience (Acts 27:25), say "...I believe God."?
