| Lee R. Russell Rev. Lee R. Russell was born May 19,1920 at Sacramento, Kentucky. He was saved February 13, 1936, and preached his first sermon in 1939. He was ordained in July 1948. "Mary and I were married May 24, 1941 - a marriage which lasted 64 years, lacking a few weeks, Mary having been promoted to glory March 13, 2005." His first interim Pastorate was a 13 week stay at Pilgrim Baptist Church, with his first full time Pulpit at Calvary Baptist Church in Boonville, Indiana where he spent five years. Rev. Russell's next 17 years were given at Eastside Baptist Church in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Berean Baptist Church in Bunker Hill, Illinois was the next stop, where he and his wife were for five years. Then on to Kalamazoo, Michigan and Northeastern Baptist Church for 6 1/2 years. At the age of 62, when most men are wanting to lie down, Pastor Russell went to First Baptist Church in Cambridge City, Indiana. Then at the ripe old age of 65 he 'retired' and spent 17 weeks at Princeton, Indiana. In the early winter of 1986 he and Mary went to Fellowship Baptist Church in Jasper, Indiana and spent 7 1/2 years there 'the first time'. Later they went back for one more year. Rev. Russell has been instrumental in several successful Bible studies which have led to newly planted Churches, although as he puts it, "I never started any new churches". And there were also several more interims and pulpit supplies, not to mention Mission trips to the Philippine Islands. MORE TO COME Articles From Rev. Russell: | |
